Spirituality day at Forest School

Year One were really lucky to spend the whole afternoon at Forest School celebrating Spirituality day.

The theme of the day is ‘Inside Out: How can I bring what’s inside me out and bring what’s outside me in?’

An easy way to think of spirituality is that it is a growing understanding of who we are. It is connecting with our thoughts and feelings inside, and also connecting with the world outside.

In Year One our spirituality class question to explore was, ‘How can my light shine?’

We started our afternoon in the reading shelter which had been decorated with twinkly lights -it looked magical!

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon taking part in a variety of exciting activities such as fire lighting , bubble making and enjoying the sheer delight of being outside in nature and all the benefits that brings to our mental and physical well being.

As a special treat we also got to toast yummy marshmallows over the glowing fire.

Each activity made us explore and reflect on our feelings. Spirituality is not something we can see; it is something we feel inside ourselves. It is about awe and wonder, asking questions, inspiration and being aware of something ‘bigger’ outside of ourselves.
