Plant treasure hunt

Today in Forest School we took part in a plant treasure hunt.  First Mrs Marples showed us an example of a plant (e.g an ivy leaf).  Next we all took a closer look at the plant to identify it’s features.  Finally we had to explore Forest School to find the same plant.

We found the following plants: Holly bush, Hazel tree with Hazel nuts, Rowan tree, Nettles, Brambles with Blackberries.  We discussed why the brambles are prickly and why the Hazel nuts are encased in a hard shell.  We thought about the birds and squirrels that feed on the plants found in Forest school.
