Today we were acoustic engineers.  We created our own string telephones and discussed how they worked.  We thought about the vibrations in the air, vibrations in the string, how the cup amplifies the vibrations and finally how the vibrations travel to the ear.

The children investigated what makes the most effective string telephone.
